Godalming High Street is coming up roses and a variety of
other blooms as the annual floral festival gets under way. Town
Mayor, Peter Martin, lent a hand this week tending the colourful
baskets which form the focal point of Godalming in Bloom.

Since its beginnings in 1997 the committee of Godalming in
Bloom have provided hanging baskets and troughs to local
traders.
This year with Solicitors Barlow Robbins on board, sees the return
of free co-ordinated floral displays.
Meanwhile gardeners are preparing for the main event of the competition
. Judging for the private gardens will take place on July
14 and for commercial properties on July 15. A special prize
giving ceremony will then be held on July 20 at the Pepperpot.
Categories to be judged
include large and small gardens, container gardens, managed
community garden, best allotment, wildlife and wildflower area,
best compost heap, and children's garden. The competition
is open FREE to all gardeners in Godalming and Farncombe.
